For me it was very difficult – we did it in 5.5 days and I’m an (overweight) office worker in my 30s, But this just meant that the memorial was all the more moving when we eventually got there. Walking the track and spending a quiet half an hour at Isurava will be as close to a religious experience that many Australians will ever get. It was for me. I was moved to tears.
