No matter how many university degrees and titles someone has beside their name, the old saying goes that “first impressions count”. It is a proven fact that when you first meet someone, within the first 30 seconds, they have formed a flickering opinion about you based on information, they are receiving, some verbal, and some not verbal. The non-verbal information that you are sending is just as important than the verbal. Much of the non-verbal information can tell a lot about a person, like their character, self-esteem and self-discipline.

If you iron your clothes well, polish your shoes well, and are well-groomed, most people would portray that as having self-pride, high self-esteem and discipline. Make an effort to be well-dressed and groomed when going to a job interview or to a business meeting, or just out in public. Make this extra effort will make sure the non-verbal information that you are sending out is a positive first impression and not a negative one. Give yourself every chance of success in this world and always dress to impress. Never be under dressed, as there is no such thing as being overdressed.
